Award recognition highlights Dongyue’s exploration of recycled plastic bricks, blocks and paver blocks
Award presentation at the Kanak News MSME Summit 2026, where Nandiki Roja Ramani represented Dongyue Group.
Bhubaneswar witnessed a notable recognition for industrial innovation on September 18, 2026, when Nandiki Roja Ramani, Head – New Products Development at Dongyue Engineering & Fabricators, received the “Excellence in New Product Development & Innovation” award on behalf of Dongyue Group at the Kanak News MSME Summit 2026.
The summit, organised by Kanak News of the Sambad media group, was held at Swosti Premium, Bhubaneswar, with Shri Sampad Chandra Swain, Hon’ble Minister of State (I/C), Industries, Skill Development & Technical Education, Government of Odisha, as Chief Guest. The recognition placed new product development and technology-driven entrepreneurship at the centre of the discussion.
For Dongyue, one of the key areas behind this new-product focus is the conversion of low-value plastic waste into useful construction materials. The company is developing and promoting technology intended to transform difficult-to-recycle plastics and single-use plastic waste into products including recycled plastic bricks, blocks and plastic paver blocks.
The approach is built around a straightforward circular-economy principle: material that has limited value in conventional recycling streams can potentially be processed into a durable, commercially useful product. In construction, this creates a possible pathway from waste collection to material processing and finally to manufactured products for infrastructure and building applications.
Speaking after receiving the award, Roja Ramani said Dongyue’s journey has been about combining engineering technology with practical and sustainable solutions. She emphasised that sustainability should translate into usable systems and products, rather than remain only a slogan. Her remarks also reflected the company’s interest in creating a circular pathway in which waste becomes a resource.
The initiative is particularly significant for plastic waste that can be challenging to recycle through conventional high-value applications. Instead of focusing only on premium recyclable fractions, Dongyue’s new-product development programme is looking at lower-value plastic streams and their potential use in construction products. This includes research and technology development around plastic paver blocks and related building materials.
Dr. Nandiki Gangadhar Reddy, Founder and Chairman of Dongyue Group, joined the programme remotely from Greater Noida, where the company was participating in Bauma India 2026. He spoke about the growing interest in the plastic-waste conversion technology and the expectations being generated around commercially viable recycling solutions.
Dr. Reddy also pointed to the relevance of such technology for Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. In many growing urban centres, plastic consumption is increasing while collection, segregation, recycling and end-use opportunities remain practical challenges. Local manufacturing systems that can convert selected waste streams into construction products could become part of a wider circular-material ecosystem, subject to appropriate technical validation, standards and project economics.
The award to Nandiki Roja Ramani thus comes at an important stage in Dongyue’s product-development journey. It recognises the innovation work behind the company’s new-product pipeline while drawing attention to a broader industrial question: how engineering can convert difficult waste streams into useful, scalable products.
With its stated motto, “Your pollution, our solution,” Dongyue Group is positioning the plastic-waste initiative as a combination of environmental responsibility, manufacturing innovation and commercial product development. The MSME Summit recognition gives that work a new public platform in Odisha and beyond.
