The findings revealed that 49% of respondents believe that spectacles negatively affect their appearance. This insight highlights a growing concern among individuals about the cosmetic implications of corrective eyewear.

The survey, which sampled 500 respondents, also shed light on the increasing desire for spectacle-free vision. Over 32% expressed a willingness to consider corrective procedures like LASIK surgery to eliminate the need for spectacles. LASIK, a popular vision correction method, has gained traction as a lifestyle solution, offering freedom from eyewear and contact lenses. This trend is particularly relevant as more people seek alternatives that blend functionality with aesthetics.

Key Survey Findings:

  • 49% of respondents said spectacles affect their appearance.
  • 32% are interested in corrective procedures like LASIK to avoid wearing spectacles.
  • 39% currently wear spectacles for vision correction.

Additionally, 27% stated they occasionally experience eye discomfort, such as dryness or irritation, with a significant 14% reporting frequent discomfort. These findings point to the prevalence of vision issues and the importance of regular eye check-ups. Despite the rise in eye-related discomfort, 39% of respondents continue to rely on spectacles for vision correction, indicating that traditional eyewear remains a common solution.

Vyas. The first-place winners were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 1.25 lakhs each.

The results of the Gunijaan Bandish Contest were announced on Sunday evening. In the female category, Somdatta Chatterjee (24 Parganas, West Bengal) secured the second position, and Yugandhara Keche (Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra) won the third prize. In the male category, Darshan Melvanki (Vijapur, Karnataka) secured the second position, and Atharva Vairagakar (Nashik, Maharashtra) won the third prize. The winners were felicitated with trophies and certificates by veteran singer-actress Vidushi Nirmala Gogate, Padma Shri Taalyogi Pandit Suresh Talwalkar, Padma Shri Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar, and Pandit Suhas Vyas. Grace Foundation President Shashi Vyas and the competition’s conceptualizer, renowned singer Aparna Kelkar, were present. The second-place winners received Rs. 75,000 each, and the third-place winners received Rs. 50,000 each.

The semi-finals, pre-finals, and finals of the Gunijaan Bandish National Competition, organized by the Grace Research Art Culture and Education Foundation (GRACE) to commemorate the 100th birth anniversary of renowned Hindustani classical singer Padma Bhushan Pandit C.R. Vyas, were held at Dr. Shriram Lagoo Rangavakash, Hirabag, Pune.

For the final round, the following participants were selected: Adya Mukherjee, Somdatta Chatterjee, Yugandhara Keche, Nandini Gaikwad, Swati Tiwari, Tejaswini Vernekar in the female category, and Ishan Ghosh, Atharva Vairagakar, Rishikesh Karmarkar, Meher Parlikar, Darshan Melvanki, and Chaitanya Parab in the male category.

Speaking about the contest , Taalyogi Pandit Suresh Talwalkar said, “A composition is born from the passion for rhythm and the melody of a raga. To transform the abstract into concrete while staying true to the original composition is a challenging task. If the participants continue to present compositions in their future musical journey, then this competition will be truly meaningful. Organizing this competition is a true tribute to Pandit C.R. Vyas.”

Pandit Suhas Vyas, the elder son of Pandit C.R. Vyas and one of the judges, said, “It is essential for the participants to learn traditional compositions from their gurus, as every composition has its roots in tradition. Pandit C.R. Vyas’s compositions were inspired by his guru, the events around him, and his spiritual experiences. While performing compositions in a concert, it is essential to have by hearted the compositions and be able to improvise them.”

Speaking about the contest, Aparna Kelkar said, “The contest was organized to facilitate the exchange of musical ideas and to take the raga concepts, musical, and literary values of Pandit C.R. Vyas’s compositions to the next generation.”

Shashi Vyas, the organizer of the contest and President of the Grace Foundation, shared the journey of organizing the contest. The vote of thanks was proposed by Geyata Vyas.

Accelerating TB Elimination: Gujarat Government intensifies efforts of TB Mukt Gujarat with Public-Private Partnership https://todaynow.in/accelerating-tb-elimination-gujarat-government-intensifies-efforts-of-tb-mukt-gujarat-with-public-private-partnership/ Thu, 26 Sep 2024 07:24:17 +0000 https://todaynow.in/?p=6529 New Delhi, 26 September 2024: In a significant move to advance India’s mission to eliminate tuberculosis (TB) and promote lung health, FUJ FILM India through it’s implementation partner Apollo Telemedicine Networking Foundation (ATNF) have been working with the Government of Gujarat for the World Lung Day Conference 2024, Held on the 25th of September, 2024 at The Leela, Gandhinagar. The conference is a key initiative under the India Fights TB campaign, reflecting the state and country’s commitment to elimination of TB by 2025, five years ahead of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) target of 2030.

Tuberculosis continues to pose a major health challenge in India, causing approximately 3.31 lakhs deaths in 2022. With over 40% of the population estimated to be carrying TB bacteria, although only 10% will develop the active disease, the government’s National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme aims to comprehensively address this threat. This conference represents a crucial moment in the ongoing efforts to boost newer methodologies, faster diagnostics, and awareness in the fight against TB, with a specific focus on enhancing the accessibility of innovative medical solutions to remote regions.

The TB Conference brought together distinguished figures from the healthcare sector and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Gujarat and officials from the State Health Department. The conference also witnessed Mr. Koji Wada, Managing Director of FUJIFILM India, alongside representatives from the Stop TB Partnership and prominent healthcare professionals, including leading TB specialists. A key highlight of the Conference was a demonstration of Fujifilm’s FDR X- Air mobile X-ray device, in the unique Mobile TB screening and Diagnostic Vans that are currently operational across districts like Banaskantha, Valsad, and Kutch and have screened over 24,609 people till now which has lead to the diagnosis of over 350 cases of TB.

Expressing his views on this collaborative initiative, Shri Rushikesh Patel, Honourable Health Minister of Gujarat remarked, “It would have been a pleasure to have attended the World Lung Day Event organized today in Gandhinagar. As you are all aware, TB is one of the major concern areas that the Honorable PM as well as the Honorable CM of Gujarat have devoted a lot of attention to. We believe strongly that to fulfil the Hon PM’s vision, it is vital for a Viksit Bharat to be a TB Mukt Bharat. Health and particularly Lung Health are the need of hour for everyone of us here. The Government of Gujarat is committed to eliminating TB and enhancing the public Healthcare system to build a healthy society. We are very happy that private sector organizations have been working with the government through PPP and CSR initiatives such as these to ensure that we all reach the target of being TB free in the near future. I congratulate all of you and wish you a Happy Lung Day once again. Together, we can build a TB Mukt India”.

By leveraging telehealth platforms, we can ensure timely intervention, improve patient outcomes, and significantly reduce the burden of TB, especially in rural and underserved areas. This approach not only facilitates early detection but also ensures continuous monitoring and follow-up care, which are crucial to managing a disease like tuberculosis.”

The World Lung Day 2024 conference underscored the importance of a multi-sectoral approach in tackling tuberculosis, highlighting how innovation, policy, and collaboration can together push the country closer to achieving its TB elimination target.
